Description

Perfluoro(2-butyltetrahydrofuran) is a fluorinated, non-polar organic solvent with a high boiling point. It can be used for thermal expansion measurements of dextran sulfate solutions and in the preparation of cell culture samples prior to histological analysis. The phase transition temperature of perfluoro(2-butyltetrahydrofuran) is 4.6°C, which means that it is liquid at room temperature and can be used as a vehicle to deliver magnetic particles to lung tissue. Perfluoro(2-butyltetrahydrofuran) also has an experimental model for studying the effects of laser ablation on lung cells.
