Product Information
- Benzoxazole, 2-(2-pyridinyl)-
2-(2-Pyridyl)benzoxazole is an antibacterial agent that belongs to the class of diphosphine ligands. It has demonstrated antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Bacillus subtilis. The mechanism of action of 2-(2-pyridyl)benzoxazole is based on its ability to bind to the active site of bacterial enzymes and inhibit their function. 2-(2-Pyridyl)benzoxazole binds to the nitro group in the enzyme’s active site by forming a ternary complex with chloride ions and one molecule of water. This binding prevents the formation of an enzyme-ligand complex with a second molecule of water, which is required for catalysis. The second step in this process involves nucleophilic attack by a chloride ion on nitro group in the enzyme
