Description:1-Pentynyl Iodide is a wittig reagent that is used in organic synthesis. It has a hydrophobic cavity and is odourless. Its odorant receptor binding properties are dose-dependent, and it can be used as a ligand to form amides or isomers. 1-Pentynyl Iodide can be used to cross-couple with other compounds to form supramolecular structures. When combined with dendrons, 1-pentynyl iodide elongates them and causes them to self-assemble into complex structures. In nature, this compound is believed to act as a bombykol ligand in the biosynthesis of pheromones in insects such as the silk moth.
