- Phenylisoquinoline
- 1-Phenyl-isoquinoline
1-Phenylisoquinoline is a trifluoroacetic acid derivative that is used as an ancillary in the synthesis of furosemide. 1-Phenylisoquinoline has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity against prostate cancer cells and it is believed to act by binding to the mitochondrial membrane potential and decreasing intracellular Ca2+ levels. The compound has also been shown to produce light emission when irradiated with UV light, which may be due to its carbonyl group. 1-Phenylisoquinoline binds to the metal ion at a coordination geometry of octahedral and square planar, which is dependent on the concentration of calcium ions.
