PEG-O-50 also inhibits axonal growth, inducing apoptosis and cell death. This compound may be useful as an experimental drug for treating cancer or other diseases. It is also a potential candidate for use in transfection experiments with biological samples. PEG-O-50 has been shown to have little toxicity to cells, although its effects on infectious diseases are not yet known.
