Pinosylvin is a natural compound that has been used in traditional medicine for the treatment of infectious diseases. Pinosylvin is a potent radical scavenger, which may be due to its ability to chelate anion radicals. It also has shown biological properties and anticancer potential. Pinosylvin has been found to induce apoptosis by inhibiting the activation of caspases and inducing the expression of pro-apoptotic proteins. This compound also inhibits the expression of PFKFB3, a key enzyme in energy metabolism that regulates glucose uptake, glycolysis, and fatty acid synthesis. Pinosylvin has been shown to inhibit cellular proliferation in 3T3-L1 preadipocytes by interfering with cell cycle progression.
