Description

3,7,8,3',4'-Pentahydroxyflavone is a flavone found in the bark of the East Indian tree Etoac. It has been shown to have antioxidant properties and can be used as a food additive. 3,7,8,3',4'-Pentahydroxyflavone is stable when it is bound to phenolic acid or tannins and can form stable complexes with hydrochloric acid or anion radicals. 3,7,8,3',4'-Pentahydroxyflavone has been shown to have protective effects on liver cells and also scavenges uv-induced free radicals. This compound has also been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.
