Peonidin-3,5-diglucoside chloride is a phenolic compound found in the Chinese herb peony. It has been shown to have anti-oxidative effects and inhibit the growth of cancer cells. Peonidin-3,5-diglucoside chloride has also been shown to have physiological activities including stimulating epidermal growth factor production, regulating fatty acid metabolism, and affecting cell differentiation. The compound has been shown to bind to response elements on DNA that regulate gene expression. Peonidin-3,5-diglucoside chloride is found in many foods and has been studied for its effects on bowel diseases as well as autoimmune diseases.
