Poncirin is an extract of the fungus Etoac, which has been shown to have anti-tumor activity. Poncirin contains a number of active compounds, including ginsenoside rg3 and bcl-2 protein. It also inhibits the activity of cyclase, an enzyme that regulates the production of cyclic AMP (cAMP). This inhibition leads to decreased levels of cAMP in cells that are sensitive to poncirin and may be responsible for its anti-tumor activity. Poncirin has been shown to inhibit the growth of preadipocytes from 3T3-L1 cells and induce apoptosis in these cells.
