Primin is a sesquiterpene lactone that can be found in the bark of the East Indian tree, Acacia catechu. Primin has shown to have antineoplastic properties and has been used as an adjuvant to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for the treatment of skin cancer. It was also shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in rats with adjuvant arthritis. The biological sample can be taken from a skin lesion or a biopsy, and it should be stored at -20°C before being tested. Primin binds to nuclear DNA by forming hydrogen bonds with the hydroxyl group on the ring structure and potassium dichromate, leading to its antineoplastic properties. It is also an inhibitor of fatty acid synthase, which is important for cell proliferation and immune response. Primin has been shown to inhibit benzalkonium chloride-induced cytotoxicity in human epidermal keratinocytes through its ability to bind
