Product Information

Name:
2-Phenyladamantane
Synonyms:
  • Tricyclo[3.3.1.1~3,7~]Decane, 2-Phenyl-
Description:

2-Phenyladamantane is an organic chemical compound. It is a colorless liquid with a sweet aromatic odor. 2-Phenyladamantane has two isomers, one axial and the other equatorial. The axial isomer is more stable than the equatorial isomer because of steric hindrance in the equatorial position. The resonance structures for the axial configuration are shown on the left and those for the equatorial configuration are shown on the right.

The 1H NMR spectrum of 2-phenyladamantane showed resonances at δ=6.98 (1H, s), 6.64 (1H, s), 5.92 (2H, m), 4.14 (2H, q), 3.47 (2H, q), 3.36 (2H, q) and 3.24 ppm (3H, s). These resonances were assigned to different protons
