Praeruptorin B is a coumarin derivative that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. It inhibits the expression of mucin genes and reduces the formation of tumors by inhibiting matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). Praeruptorin B also inhibits the activity of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit transcription. This compound also increases the production of mucus in the respiratory tract, which may help to relieve coughs.
