The polygalaxanthones also have a protective effect on human liver cells and can be used as an absorption enhancer. In addition, they are able to reduce inflammation by inhibiting NF-κB activation and suppressing the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, IL-6, TNFα, and IL-8. These polymers show good bioavailability when orally administered or injected into the body; however, their oral administration is not advised due to their low solubility in water. It is recommended that these compounds be administered intravenously or intramuscularly.
