Phellopterin is a natural compound that has been shown to have insecticidal effects. It is found in the plant Angelica dahurica and has been shown to be effective against a number of insects. Phellopterin inhibits 3t3-l1 preadipocytes and induces apoptosis, which may be related to its ability to inhibit cyclase activity. Phellopterin also inhibits the growth of tumor cells in vitro and has been shown to increase the release of luteinizing hormone in vivo. Phellopterin has also been shown to inhibit lipid peroxidation, which may be due to its ability to bind with glutathione, an antioxidant present in cells.
