Product Information

Name:
Picfeltarraenin IB
Description:

Picfeltarraenin IB is a cucurbitacin derivative that has inhibitory activity against the tumor cell line. Picfeltarraenin IB was found to be more specific than methylester of picfeltarraenin A and B. The compound was detected by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with UV detection at 254 nm, followed by mass spectrometry (MS). Picfeltarraenin IB can be extracted from the plant using acetone as solvent and then purified by preparative HPLC. It inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, thereby preventing transcription and replication. The high frequency of human activity has been shown using a patch-clamp technique on human erythrocytes. This active form is metabolized through a number of metabolic transformations, including hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidases, oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, reduction by glutathione reductase
