Product Information
Name:Perfluoroperhydrophenanthrene
Controlled Product
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Perfluoroperhydrophenanthrene is a perfluorocarbon that has been shown to prevent the development of proliferative diabetic retinopathy. It is used as a contrast agent in diagnostic procedures, such as angiography and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Perfluoroperhydrophenanthrene enters into the cell nucleus and binds to DNA, which alters its phase transition temperature. This causes the cell to undergo apoptosis if it has been exposed to low light for prolonged periods of time. It also has an anti-angiogenic effect, which may be due to its ability to block blood vessel formation. Perfluoroperhydrophenanthrene can cause lung damage when inhaled, but this is minimal when administered as a contrast agent.
