(Z)-1,2,3,3,3-Pentafluoropropene is a gas that is produced by the reaction of hydrogen fluoride with trifluoroacetic acid. It is an oxidation product of pentafluoropropene and has been shown to be toxic to humans and animals. The toxicity of (Z)-1,2,3,3,3-pentafluoropropene can be attributed to its ability to cause bond cleavage in carbonyl groups and its high vapor pressure. The kinetic studies have shown that the reaction rate for (Z)-1,2,3,3,3-pentafluoropropene is dependent on the concentration of this gas.
