Quercetin 3,7,4'-trimethylether is a sesquiterpene lactone that belongs to the group of flavonoids. It has a biological activity that can inhibit the function of DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV in bacteria. Quercetin 3,7,4'-trimethylether has shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and inhibit the production of prostaglandins. This compound also has antioxidant properties and can protect cells from oxidative injury. Quercetin 3,7,4'-trimethylether inhibits inflammation by inhibiting the production of cytokines by immune cells (e.g., T-cells). Quercetin 3,7,4'-trimethylether is found in plants at a concentration around 0.5%.
