Diethyl O-(2-quinoxalyl) phosphorothioate is an organophosphorus pesticide that inhibits the enzyme acetylcholinesterase (AChE). It has been shown to be toxic to mammals, and has caused a decrease in the levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) in the brains of mice. Diethyl O-(2-quinoxalyl) phosphorothioate has also been shown to increase ovarian activity in rats, although this effect was not observed in mice. The synergistic effect of diethyl O-(2-quinoxalyl) phosphorothioate with other pesticides has been studied using a testicular model system.
