Description:Quinazolin-2-ol is a quinazolone compound that inhibits the growth of bacteria, fungi and viruses. It is an antimicrobial agent used to treat bacterial and fungal infections and has been shown to be effective against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Quinazolin-2-ol also exhibits significant cytotoxicity and in vitro antifungal activity against Candida albicans. This compound is absorbed into human serum and can inhibit copper-dependent enzymes such as anthranilate synthase. Quinazolin-2-ol also has immunosuppressive properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of cytokines such as IL-1β, IL-6, TNFα, or IL-10.
