Quercetin-3-arabinoside is a sugar derivative of quercetin. It is an enzyme inhibitor that belongs to the group of complex enzymes. Quercetin-3-arabinoside has been shown to have hypoglycemic effects in mice and rats, inhibiting the activity of alpha-glucosidase and alpha amylase, which are involved in carbohydrate metabolism. Quercetin-3-arabinoside has also demonstrated antiviral activity against chronic viral hepatitis, as well as antiinflammatory and antioxidant properties. Quercetin-3-arabinoside may be effective for the treatment of diseases such as chronic viral hepatitis or cancer because it inhibits polymerase chain reactions (PCR) by preventing DNA synthesis.
