Product Information

Name:
Gelomulide N
Description:

Gelonium is a genus of diterpenes that are found in the bark of the tree "Gelonium multiflorum" which is native to China. Gelomulide N is a cytotoxic agent with inhibitory effects on cancer cell lines in vitro and has been shown to be effective against breast cancer cells. The cytotoxic activity of this drug may be due to its ability to inhibit DNA synthesis and protein synthesis, leading to cell death. Gelomulide N has been shown to have anticancer activity in vivo when administered by x-ray irradiation. This natural product also inhibits the growth of human colon cancer cells and induces apoptosis. Gelomulide N has not been evaluated for carcinogenicity or mutagenicity potential, but it does not cause any genotoxicity in vitro.
