Description

Repromicin (RMP) is a molecule that belongs to the class of antimicrobial agents and has been shown to be active against u. urealyticum, a bacterium that causes cancer in humans. It can also be used as a diagnostic agent for the identification of various bacterial species. RMP is structurally related to erythromycin, which inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit and preventing peptide bond formation. RMP has been shown to inhibit growth factor-induced proliferation of monoclonal antibodies and viral cells, such as HIV and herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1).
