Description:Rosmanol is a bioactive phenolic compound that has been isolated from the root bark of the plant Rosmarinus officinalis. It has been shown to have strong antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi. Rosmanol has also been shown to inhibit the production of PGE2, a pro-inflammatory lipid mediator. The compound was found to be highly cytotoxic in vitro when tested against human colon cancer cells (HT-29) and mouse melanoma cells (B16). Structural analysis revealed that rosmanol contains caffeic acids, which have been linked with anticancer properties.
