Description:
Racemic methadone N-oxide is the racemic mixture of the two enantiomers of methadone N-oxide. It is a potent analgesic and narcotic agonist that is used in the treatment of pain. The drug is metabolized to dihydromethadone, which is an active metabolite and has been shown to be present in human urine. Racemic methadone N-oxide has also been shown to cause artifactual high readings on rhesus monkey dna gyrase assays due to its activity as a non-competitive enzyme inhibitor.
