Description:
Secoisolariciresinol is a phytoestrogen that can be found in the diet. Secoisolariciresinol has been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect, as well as an oestrogenic effect. It has been shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines and prostaglandins and also to bind to estrogen receptors. In addition, secoisolariciresinol is structurally similar to some non-steroidal hormones, such as estradiol, which may account for its biological activity.
