Rhodium(II) acetate dimer is a compound that has two acetates attached to Rhodium. It is a functional group that can be used in the synthesis of pyrimidine nucleosides. This compound was synthesized by reacting ethyl diazoacetate with dimethyl diazomalonate in the presence of piperazine. The reaction was heated at 100°C for 24 hours and then cooled to room temperature. The product was purified by preparative thin layer chromatography on silica gel and eluted with methylene chloride:methanol (97:3).
