Rubusoside is a natural compound that is found in the roots and leaves of the Chinese medicinal plant, Rubus. It has been shown to have synergistic effects with other compounds. Rubusoside has been shown to inhibit the activity of complex enzymes, such as p-nitrophenyl phosphate oxidase. This may be due to steric interactions between rubusoside and the enzyme, which prevents substrate access. Rubusoside also inhibits energy metabolism in cells by inhibiting ATP synthesis through its inhibition of enzymes such as pyruvate kinase and lactate dehydrogenase. Rubusoside has also demonstrated anti-inflammatory effects against HL60 cells by inhibiting NF-κB activation. In addition, rubusoside has an effect on cancer cell migration and proliferation by inhibiting cell adhesion molecules such as CD44 and integrin α4β7.
