Product Information
SR 1078 is a pro-apoptotic protein that has been shown to be effective in an experimental model. SR 1078 induces apoptosis by binding to and inhibiting the function of the homologous protein, polymerase chain (PCNA). This drug also inhibits the production of ATP and causes a decrease in the levels of dinucleotide phosphate. The mechanism of action may be due to its ability to act as a competitive inhibitor for PCNA or its ability to induce the production of reactive oxygen species. The drug has been shown to be effective in preventing cardiac and myocardial infarcts when administered after reperfusion injury. In addition, SR 1078 has been shown to reduce renal i/r injury in animal models.
