Description:Suc-Ala-Ala-Phe-AMC is a synthetic substrate that has been used to measure angiotensinase activity in blood pressure regulation. It is hydrolysed by the enzyme serine protease and the rate of hydrolysis is proportional to the concentration of angiotensin. Suc-Ala-Ala-Phe-AMC can be used as a substitute for angiotensin I, which is not readily available for experimental use. Suc-Ala-Ala-Phe-AMC does not contain any amino acids that are essential for life, and so it can be used in experiments with animals without causing them any harm.
