Description:SC 79 is a compound that can inhibit the activity of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) by binding to the enzyme DNA-dependent RNA polymerase. It also binds to mitochondria and inhibits mitochondrial functions, leading to cytosolic calcium overload, neuronal death, and oxidative injury. The effects of SC 79 on mouse tumor cells have been investigated in vitro and in vivo. SC 79 was shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro as well as tumor formation in vivo.
