Sulfuretin is a surfactant that is used in the study of plant science. It has potent induction properties and can be used for the chromatographic analysis of DNA and RNA. Sulfuretin has significant cytotoxicity, which may be due to its ability to induce apoptosis by binding to the response element on DNA or its inhibition of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) activity. Sulfuretin also has natural compounds, such as cyclin D2, which are involved in oxidative injury.
