10-Shogaol is a natural compound found in ginger. It has shown significant cytotoxicity against HL-60 cells and MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells. 10-Shogaol is a potent inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) that can inhibit tumor cell invasion and migration. 10-Shogaol also inhibits protein synthesis and induces apoptosis by binding to the toll-like receptor 4, which is an immune system receptor. 10-Shogaol has been shown to have antioxidant properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit neuronal death by blocking oxidative stress pathways and mitochondrial dysfunction. 10-Shogaol also binds with high affinity to the response element on DNA, making it a potential drug target for many enzymes including polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
