Description

Sodium valproate is an anticonvulsant drug that has been used to treat bipolar disorder, epilepsy, and migraine headaches. It is a salt of valproic acid and sodium, with a molecular weight of 266.7. Sodium valproate is available in the form of capsules or tablets that are taken orally. This drug has been shown to have interactions with other drugs such as antibiotics, painkillers, and cholesterol-lowering medicines. Side effects include hypersensitivity syndrome, which may be due to an allergic reaction.
