Product Information

Name:
Sordarin sodium salt
Description:

Sordarin sodium salt is a modified form of the natural amino acid sordarin. Sordarin sodium salt is methylated and has a methyl group added to its side chain. The modifications of this family of compounds are due to the addition of another methyl group at the N-terminal end. This modification has been shown to increase translation efficiency, but not at the expense of protein quality. It also appears that methylation may be functionally important in some cases, as it can catalyze lysine methylation and lead to frameshifting during translation. Methyltransferase enzymes have also been shown to cause hypersensitivity reactions in some patients, which may be due to their ability to bind with other proteins or DNA molecules.
