Sodium hexanitrocobaltate(III) is an ionic compound that is used in the synthesis of organic compounds. It has been shown to be stable and soluble in aqueous solutions. Sodium hexanitrocobaltate(III) is prepared by the reaction of sodium nitrate, hydroxide, and cobalt nitrate in aqueous solution. This compound can be obtained as a white solid with a melting point of 24-26 degrees Celsius. The crystals are acidic, cationic surfactant, and have a water molecule on their surface. They are insoluble in most organic solvents but soluble in water. Sodium hexanitrocobaltate(III) has been used for the synthesis of synthetic peptides and proteins, biochemical analysis, and as an x-ray crystal structure sample preparation reagent for molybdenum metal. It also shows antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aure
