Product Information
Name:Styrene - stabilised with TBC
Synonyms:
- Styrene Phenylethylene Vinylbenzene
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Styrene - stabilised with TBC is a cationic polymerization monomer that is used in the manufacture of polystyrene. Styrene-TBC is a monomer that is used to produce polystyrene. It contains a hydroxyl group, which reacts with another molecule of styrene to form an epoxide linkage, and a hydrogenated carbon atom, which can react with other molecules of styrene to form a ketone linkage. The reaction mechanism for this process has been studied using both kinetic and molecular modelling techniques. Chronic exposure to styrene-TBC has been shown to have adverse effects on the metabolic rate of rats and mice.
