Description

Syringic acid is a phenolic acid that is found in the bark of the syringa tree (Lilac). It has been used in traditional Chinese medicine preparations to treat conditions such as skin problems and convulsions. Syringic acid is an intermediate in the biosynthesis of hydroxybenzoic acid, which is used as an analytical marker for plant identification.
