Description:Sorghumol is a vanillyl alcohol molecule that is found in the plant called reticulata. It is present in the seed oil of this plant and has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on cancer cells. Sorghumol has also been found to be a staining agent for fatty acids, and it can be extracted from n-hexane. Sorghumol has also been shown to have an inhibitory effect on parasitic plants, such as Orobanche ramosa and Striga hermonthica, which are known to cause cancer in humans. The mechanism of action for sorghumol is not yet fully understood but may involve its hydroxyl group or cationic surfactant properties.
