Scandium(III) triflate is a particle of scandium, which has a hydroxyl group and three fluorine atoms. It is used as a catalyst in organic reactions. Scandium(III) triflate catalyzes the hydrothiolation of alkenes and alkynes. The reaction mechanism involves its covalent bonding with the carbonyl carbon of the substrate to form a new C-S bond. This reaction is also known as “scandium catalysis” or “scandium effect”. Scandium(III) triflate can be used in the synthesis of cannabidiol compound by asymmetric synthesis with sodium-dependent glucose. The synergic effect can be obtained when it is used with dibutyltin oxide in neutral ph conditions. Scandium(III) triflate has been shown to have an additive effect when combined with benzyl groups and other chemical substances, such as trifluor
