Description:

Spinosad is a mixture of A and D, which are both natural products. It has been shown to have low toxicity in mammals and birds, as well as many beneficial effects on the immune system. Spinosad is approved for use in organic agriculture due to its low mammalian toxicity, high efficacy against insect pests, and lack of residual activity. The biological activities of these two components are synergistic when mixed together, making it an effective insecticide. Spinosad also has been shown to have minimal ecological effects on nontarget organisms. This product is manufactured by isolating the active ingredients from the soil bacterium "Saccharopolyspora spinosa" and combining them into a single formulation.
Spinosad can be used in liquid form or as a powder spray. The name "spinosad" was coined from a combination of the words "spin" (a reference to the organism that produces it) and "neurotoxin."
