Sulfacetamide is an antimicrobial agent that is used in the treatment of infectious diseases. The optimum concentration for sulfacetamide is between 0.2 and 1 mg/L, and it has inhibitory properties against Gram-positive bacteria such as S. aureus and S. pyogenes. Sulfacetamide has been shown to be effective in wastewater treatment by inhibiting the growth of bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics, such as tetracycline and erythromycin.
