Product Information

Name:
Sildenafil dimer impurity
Description:

Sildenafil is a phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor that is used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). Sildenafil is marketed under many trade names, including Revatio and Viagra. The active ingredient in this medication is sildenafil, which is chemically known as 1-[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl]piperazine. A recent study validated the use of LC-MS/MS to quantify sildenafil impurities in herbal products for health food stores. This method was able to identify the drug at a limit of detection of 0.5 ppm and quantification limit of 2 ppm. It also has been shown to be highly sensitive, which makes it an excellent screening tool for identifying adulterated sildenafil products.
