Sinensetin is a coumarin derivative that has been found to have inhibitory properties in vitro. Sinensetin is an indole alkaloid and is structurally related to other compounds such as mitragynine, which is found in the kratom plant. Sinensetin was shown to be a matrix effect agent in a study of the drug interactions with dextran sulfate. Sinensetin also has antiinflammatory activity and can be used as a control compound for 3T3-L1 preadipocytes. The biological effects of sinensetin are still being studied, but it has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in cell culture studies.
