Description

Skimmianine is a flavonol glycoside that belongs to the chemical class of dictamnine. It has been shown in vitro to have anti-cancer properties, specifically against cervical cancer. Skimmianine has been shown to bind to dna, specifically at 5-HT2 receptors, and may have potential uses in treating depression, anxiety, and other neuropsychiatric disorders due to its ability to block serotonin uptake. Skimmianine also inhibits acetate extract from the plant family Apocynaceae, which may be useful in inhibiting tumor growth.
