Description:

Sodium perfluorovalerate is an inorganic acid that is used for water treatment. It prevents the formation of scale deposits by adsorbing onto metal ions, such as calcium and magnesium, and preventing them from precipitating out. Sodium perfluorovalerate also functions as an insecticide to kill termites by evaporation or contact. It has been shown to be effective at low concentrations against both drywood and dampwood termites. The chemical is not harmful to humans but can cause eye irritation. Sodium perfluorovalerate reacts with benzoylphenylurea in deionized water to form a lamellar phase that aids in water purification. Sodium perfluorovalerate also reacts with hydroxyl groups on particles in wastewater, forming coagulants that aid in particle removal during coagulation processes.
