Thiophosgene is a model system that can be used to investigate the chemical reactions of benzimidazole compounds. Thiophosgene has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of amine-induced cells, although it does not react with amines. The transport rate of thiophosgene into solution is dependent on the concentration and polarity of the solvent. Zirconium oxide has been shown to be a good catalyst for this reaction, while phosphorus pentoxide and hydrogen bond are not. Laboratory tests have found that thiophosgene has biological properties in rats and mice, but no data on its toxicity potential is available.
