TBTU is an aminium coupling reagent used for amide and ester synthesis. TBTU is a stable, efficient and reactive reagent suitable for solution and solid-phase peptide synthesis. With TBTU high yields, racemisation suppression and fast reaction times are achieved. TBTU contains the carbodiimide and benzotriazole moieties, generates HOBt and water-soluble by-products. TBTU can be used in its polymer-bound form as a solid-supported peptide coupling reagent efficient even in presence of water and can be easily separated and regenerated after the reaction. TBTU finds application in the synthesis of biologically active peptides, such as azapeptides.
