It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. The binding of 4-[(2R)-2-[(1R)-2,2,2-Trifluoro-1-hydroxyethyl]-1-pyrrolidinyl]-2-(trifluoromethyl)benzonitrile to the estrogen receptor is competitive and it can be displaced by estradiol. The drug has a long detection time in urine samples due to its stability and low molecular weight.
