Product Information
L-threonine is an amino acid that can be found in proteins. It is a dipeptide of the essential amino acid l-threonine and the nonessential amino acid l-serine. L-Threonine can be metabolized to generate adenosylhomocysteine, which can serve as a substrate for S-adenosylmethionine synthetase. This enzyme converts S-adenosylmethionine to 5'-methylthioadenosine, which is then converted to HMTPA by methyltransferase. HMTPA is subsequently converted to homocysteine through the action of cystathionase or serine hydroxymethyltransferase. Homocysteine may then be converted back into methionin by methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR).
